Maharashtra Pan Vyapari Mahasangh, representing over seven lakh pan vendors and small retail shopkeepers, announced march at Mumbai's Azad Maidan on July 7 to protest crackdown on vendors. Questioning the use of stringent criminal law against traders, it said, "When product is legally manufactured, transported & sold across most parts of India...why should it be prohibited only in Maharashtra?"
