short by Pravel Jain / on Sunday, 5 April, 2026
Researchers have filmed the shellear fish (Parakneria thysi), found in Africa, climbing a waterfall for the first time. The fish, measuring 37-48 mm and capable of growing up to around 96 mm, were recorded scaling the 50-foot (15-metre) Luvilombo Falls on the Luvilombo River. The journey is estimated to take nearly 10 hours for the fish to reach the top.
