Mayor of Italian city bans bicycles after being hit by one, sparks backlash
Mayor of Italy's Como, Alessandro Rapinese, has restricted riding both electric and conventional bicycles on about 30 streets in the lakeside city's historic centre from September. This comes after an e-bike hit Rapinese in July. All cyclists will be required to dismount their bikes and walk through these areas. This has sparked backlash among locals, delivery riders, activists and politicians.
