A special NIA court convicted and sentenced ISIS member Mohamed Shariq to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in 2022 Mangaluru pressure cooker blast case. The accused was also fined ₹92,000. Shariq was carrying a pressure cooker IED in auto-rickshaw with intent to plant it at a temple in Mangaluru in November 2022; however, it exploded prematurely, causing injuries to him.
