Subramanyam "Subu" Vedam, a 64-year-old Indian-origin man, was released after spending 43 years in a US prison for a wrongful murder conviction. Released on October 3, he was immediately detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) due to a decades-old deportation order linked to his earlier conviction in a drug case during his teenage. Vedam is now fighting deportation.
